The Leadership Team of Bethesda regard the responsibilites of all Members of Bethesda Chapel as follows:
We need to be a church where our friends and neighbours can see Christian love in action and we need to accept the advice as set out in God’s Word where we are encouraged to ‘grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ’.
(2 Peter 3 v 18)
1)   To seek to grow spiritually in our relationship with God by
  • having a regular daily devotional time spent  in reading His Word
  • keeping close to Him in prayer

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. (Ephesians 6 v 17-18)

2)   To protect the unity of the fellowship by
  • acting in love towards other members
  • speaking and seeing the best of others
  • supporting the leadership of the fellowship

Let us love one another; for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4 v 7) Anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother. (1 John 4 v 20-21)

3)   To share in the responsibility of the work of the fellowship by
  • being a regular part of the fellowship at prayer
  • actively reaching out to those who need to knowthe Lord

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Colossians 4 v 2)

Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the Word of God. (Romans 10 v 17)
4)   To serve in the ministry of the fellowship by
  • discovering and using our gifts and talents actively seeking to serve the Lord by being involved in some part of the work of the fellowship

Each of us should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.  (1 Peter 4 v 10)

5)   To support the testimony of the fellowship by
  • seeking to attend Sunday Worship Services, Bible teaching whether in House Groups or at church or other mid-week meetings
  • living a Christian lifestyle
  • giving prayerfully and regularly to the work of the Lord Jesus, both financially and practically

Now about the collection for God’s people. Do what I told the Galation churches to do. On the first day of the week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income.  (1 Corinthians 16 v 2)

6)   To support the leadership by
  • recognising the leadership
  • acknowledging the leadership
  • submitting to the leadership

Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage for to you. (Hebrews 13 v 17)

7)   To keep the counsels and business of the fellowship within the fellowship
  • neither discussing or criticising the business or other members of the assembly with others who are not in fellowship.
