About Bethesda
by Jon Shaw

Our Vision

The heart of members of Bethesda Chapel is reaching the community of Dinas Powys with the Good News that in the 21st Century, Jesus Christ is still relevant and can make a difference to our lives.

This is our Vision:

“Sharing the message of Jesus Christ with compassion”

We want our lives, our words, and our actions to demonstrate this Vision.

Our Members

Approximately 120 members of Bethesda plus many visitors and friends meet every week at a wide range of activities. The building hosts events 7 days a week!

At the heart of this activity is our desire to give our community the opportunity to experience our mission and to hear a word of challenge and encouragement from the Bible.

Our Background

The church was founded in Dinas Powys in 1925, and moved to its current location (next to the library and Murch Junior School in Fairoaks) in 1964. We consider ourselves to be an Evangelical Church, basing our actions and beliefs on the Bible. We are an independent and financially self supporting Church, with no direct affiliation to any other Churches. Bethesda Chapel is a UK Registered Charity (1146153).

Please see other parts of the web site for our Statement of Faith.

Our Facilities

In addition to our Chapel area, where we hold our Sunday services, our facilities include a coffee shop area, sports hall/function area, and a number of meeting rooms used for various activities from age 0 to 100! We use modern technology and multimedia in many of our meetings.

Our Community

So many people who visit our Church speak of the closeness of members, as one big family!  We want more people in Dinas Powys to be part of our family! We seek to reach out into our community showing practical acts of kindness. We also use our own  Bethesda Community Choir to encourage everyone to be part of a group who sing, and through this experience learn about the love of God for each one of us. If you have a particular need for support, please let us know and we'll try to help.

Attending a Bethesda  Family Service….what can you expect?

·         Our Family Service each Sunday is, as it says, a time for families to come to church together.

·         Dress code is casual!

·         After Coffee (10.30 onwards) we start our Service at 11.00am.

·         Typically this includes some singing, accompanied by our Worship band, with a combination of modern and traditional songs.

·         There is a ‘kids slot’ with a fun and interactive 15 minute session, before the children go to ‘Discoverer’s Inc’Blast! , or Sunday Morning Youth) where they enjoy Bible teaching /discussions with dedicated teachers. All Leaders involved in  youth activities have undergone DBS child protection checks.

·         Adults will listen to a message from a range of both in-house and visiting speakers, who seek to present a message from a range of topics, as we seek to show the relevance of God’s Word the Bible and Jesus Christ.
